Q: Why would one need to obtain CEUs?
A: The purpose for issuing CEUs is to provide a permanent record of training and continuing education for individuals who need to submit proof of their continuing education to state licensing boards and employers.

Q. Who may issue CEUs?
A. Any organization that offers professional development education and training programs may potentially award CEUs. Adoption and use of the CEU is entirely voluntary and does not require the approval of another agency. Information Mapping, Inc. voluntarily complies with the definitions and standards set by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). However, Informaton Mapping, Inc. is not an IACET authorized provider.

Q. How many CEUs may be awarded for any given program?
A. The number of CEUs awarded for an event is calculated based on the event's exact number of instructional hours. Under the IACET standards, ten (10) hours of instruction equals one (1) CEU. Instructional hours do not include time involved in coffee breaks, meals, social activities, business and committee meetings, or vendor exhibits. CEUs are not awarded to those individuals who leave a session or event early. See the example below:
Two-Day Workshop
Begin Time: 9:00 am
End Time: 4:30 pm
Total Time: 7.5 hours
Less 1.5 hours for lunch / breaks
6 hours of instruction = .6 CEUs *
* If ten (10) hours of instruction equals one (1) CEU, then six (6) hours of instruction equals .6 CEU.

Q. What is the exchange rate between Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs)?
