DITA
Information Mapping provides a research-based foundation for DITA. DITA is a mark-up language that specifies how content should be tagged in XML. Information Mapping is a methodology that provides proven techniques and guidelines to help authors create topic-based content that is optimized for their user. In other words, Information Mapping is used to create the content, while DITA provides a common language for tagging or describing it.
A succesful implementation of DITA has many prerequisites. Information Mapping provides three of the most important components:
- Services: Professional services in connection with DITA content architecture
- Training: Training for DITA authors and content creators (a two-day interactive workshop), and
- An Authoring tool: A Word-based XML DITA authoring tool, Content Mapper.
Information Mapping and DITA work very well together. Information Mapping provides the extra, vital skills that content creators need and enables you to write modular, reader-oriented, precisely defined units. These units are suitable for reuse and can be easily created to comply with DITA standards.
DITA Learning Programs Information Mapping has a program to help organizations learn DITA: Developing Effective DITA Content classroom program.
