Using Copy and Paste in Formatting Solution™ (FS) Pro Documents
By Jason Brantley, Client Services Manager

Formatting Solutions™ (FS) Pro documents can become corrupt if you copy text from non-FS Pro documents or other sources, such as e-mail or the Web, and paste it into your new document. The problem is that you are carrying over the formatting associated with the original document or source. Fortunately, this problem can be avoided by using Microsoft® Word’s Edit>Paste Special function.

The information below describes how to copy and paste Block Text, Table Text and Images into an FS Pro document.

Copying and Pasting Block and Table Text
The table below describes how to copy and paste Block and Table Text into your FS Pro document.

Step
Action
1
Copy the Block or Table Text you want from a document.
2
In the new FS Pro document, click where you want the text to appear.
3

Select Edit>Paste Special from the Word toolbar.

Result: The Paste Special window appears.

4

Select Unformatted Text.

Result: The copied text will pick up the formatting from your new document and it will be recognized correctly by FS Pro.

Example
This is an example of the Paste Special window, which allows you to insert copied text from a non-FS Pro document without carrying over formatting.

Copying and Pasting Images

Information Mapping recommends saving images to your hard drive and then using Insert Picture from the FS Pro menu or icon on the toolbar to insert them. You may, however, copy and paste the images, using the standard copying and pasting method, but this may cause FS Pro to behave strangely.
